  Speculation ( not theory ) on child abuse inquiries.

  most of you, like me, keep yourself informed as to what's happening in jw-land.

  like me, you make it your business to know what's going on.

  so i'm wondering why the wtbts is allowing eldubs to appear in these inquiries in australia??

  True believing JWs are perfectly willing to lie for the Borg, go to prison for the Borg, or die for the Borg. I expect very few of these elders to be swayed in any way by these proceedings. None of them have so far.
  
  The benefit will be that *maybe* the news media surrounding all this will empower more victims to come forward and realize that the cult is WRONG and EVIL for how it's treated them. Also, people will be less likely to take the literature, study, convert, etc. though that's barely ever happening anymore anyway.

  the australian royal commission has 1000+ documented cases of child abuse over 65 years.

  The "transcripts" at the commission site (at this point) look like summaries typed up by a clerk and then signed by the witnesses as being accurate. Good enough for now, until word-for-word transcripts are made (if they even do that in Australia).

  I finally saw one for the first time in my town. The JW sat on a park bench far enough away that there would be no practical way for her to even strike up a conversation with someone taking mags off the cart. It's just a way to count time and waste time, just like all other field service.

  JW ended a relationship with me

  my jw boyfriend just ended a year and a half relationship with me.

  it came out the blue and i'm deeply hurt by this because we were so compatible.

  he did it right before the big annual gathering he is presently attending.

  getting alot of e-mails from angry brothers saying things like i qoute "this is the straw broke the camels back.." "bloody idiots.." etc.

  last nights news featured the australian commision into jehovah's witness elders not reporting pedophiles.

  it was very damning!

  1,000 sex abuse cases hidden in Australia for 68,000 publishers...what is it worldwide?

  the press is reporting that over 1,000 cases of abuse were hidden from authorities in australia.. australia has around 68,000 publishers.. if you that ratio applied to the u.s. also, there could be over 14,700 cases that were covered up here.. if the ratio held the same worldwide, that would be over 117,600 cases.. just let that sink in a little..

  jehovah's witnesses destroyed notes about child sexual abuse to stop them falling into the wrong hands and to "protect their wives", a church elder has told a national hearing in sydney.. the opening day of a royal commission hearing into abuse within the controversial church has heard how more than 1000 cases of child abuse since 1950 were dealt with internally and never reported to police.. it has also heard that victims were made to confront their abusers and left feeling as if they had sinned.. max horley was an elder for the jehovah's witness congregation in narrogin, western australia, in the late 1980s when a woman, known as bcb, was interviewed about her relationship with another church elder, bill neill.. in evidence on monday, bcb told how neill, who is dead, groomed her from the age of 15. he would tongue kiss her and spy on her when she was in the shower at his home.. when the abuse was revealed, she was asked to attend meetings where on one occasion the abuser joked about what he had done.. .

  I didn't know about this stuff until I was in my 40s and it happened in my own family to my closest friend and relative. That's how good they are at covering this stuff up. What's sad and sickening is she's still IN. I'm the only one who left (partly) because of it. :(

  The Australian Royal Commission hearings on the JWs handling of child abuse begins here in the US later today. It will be streamed.

  the royal commission hearing starting on monday, july 27, 2015 - australian day and date - (and it could go on until august 7th depending on how many witnesses testify) regarding jehovah's witnesses handling of child abuse is supposed to be streamed.. it could be that the hearing will only be audio not video although we were informed it will be streamed.

  we'll find out in a few hours.. i live in the central time zone of the us and right now here it is sunday, 3: 45 pm.

  in sydney, australia, it is 15 hours ahead of us.

  Probable Discovery of Life on Comet Philae

  according to leading astronomers the probe philae that landed on the comet 67p last november may have discovered microbial life..... sadly neither the probe nor the orbiter rosetta are equipped to test directly but the evidence is interesting.

  these are not easily explained in terms of prebiotic chemistry.

  the dark material is being constantly replenished as it is boiled off by heat from the sun.

  I wonder whether we'll recognize "life" the first time we encounter it in a non-carbon form. This is amazingly cool stuff and I hope to be alive still when life is confirmed out there.
